The Diabetes Education Centre provides free individual counselling and group education classes for people with diabetes and pre-diabetes. Caregivers and family members are encouraged to come along. A registered nurse and registered dietitian facilitate the classes and provide individual counselling.

You can expect to learn all about diabetes when you come to see us, including:

How to:

• Enjoy the foods you like while managing your blood sugars and weight
• Read food labels
• Monitor your blood sugars with a glucometer (glucometer provided with appointment)
• Manage your stress
• Include exercise as part of your healthy lifestyle
• Care for your feet
• Better understand your diabetes medications
• Start and use insulin (as needed)

Managing diabetes is different for everyone. We will work with you to manage your diabetes in ways that fit into your life.   

No matter where you live, you are welcome at our centre.  We offer free interpretation for appointments in most languages. If you are interested in coming to our centre, you can call and book your own appointment at (416) 7871676 ext 301.
